In his session, Mr. Rajesh delineated the various historical incidents leading to the current international politics of global warming. In the light of the reported failure of Copenhagen summit, the world politics of climatic change and the emissions issue was discussed. The core message of the presentation to the students was the importance of careful study of the issue before voicing partisan opinion. The issue of climatic change due to human intervention should be subjected to careful investigation before jumping into conclusions. The position and stand points of both developing and developed countries should be analyzed to reach not only conclusions about ‘who is right’ but also to possible (an economically feasible) measures to contain undesirable emissions and to find out the ‘opportunities’ behind all these issues.
The participants showed high level of interest and enthusiasm on the topic.
